Should i take my car apart or just sell it to a junk place for $350?

Well i have a nissan altama 1999 GXE just sitting in my garage. It has 140k miles and it's not in the best condition. First it needs some rear body work which will cost $1,600, and engine work that will cost $1,500. The problem with the engine is the head gasket leaks and i was told i should just get a new engine all together which is why it's $1,500. But i believe i put more money in this car than it's worth. I was thinking to just take it to a place where they buy junk cars… but I was speaking to one of my friends and he said i should take the car apart and i will get more money for it if i sell some parts at a junk yard. Is it true? If so should i do it? How difficult will it be?

  1. list it on Craig's list as a parts car.have people bring there own tools and select the parts they want, and decide on a price and just keep an eye as they do the work.the junk yard won't give you much.but as a parts car you may make some real money.it is a regular method, and their are tons of people that are more than willing to do the work,as you get paid.and once you have let every one buy what they want, then have a junk yard give you something for it.at the very least they will take it at no charge.but i'm sure you will get something even after you have sold some parts.

  2. you can make more by pulling parts off it, cleaning them up and selling them on ebay and then scrapping whats left or what is crap

  3. Strip it. Pull the engine and transmission, wheels, doors, hood, bumpers, any body parts that are in good condition. Take the suspension as well, with the complete knuckles, but leave the axles. Take the steering wheel, seats, gauge cluster, radio. Attempt to sell all of that, and have a company come to your house and tow away the empty shell.
