ive read quite a few info about this but from what i know is this…obviosuly the straight line accelration in the m3 is far better. but a m3 say a 95 one is about 6k and now 325is are pretty dirt cheap i can find good ones for around 3k. could you chip it, (jimc) and do some other stuff for 3k to make it that fast? or is it not even worth it?
what handles better? whats more reliable?
and what would drive better in the winter a m3 or a 325is both equpped with snow tires.

1st of all, these cars are barely in the same category. the only thing they have in common is size.
if you know anything about bmw, its that the m3 is their flagship car, has been since the e30 m3 began domination in the le mans racing series. 30 years ago
2nd thing, a 325i is not going to be fast. its a 2.5 liter, built in the mid 80's. brand new you're looking at 190hp, and you can count on a good chunk of that being washed away over the last 25 years. putting a software upgrade on a car is completely pointless when its bone stock. unless you have a supercharger, intake, complete exhaust overhaul, and new suspension you wont see better performance just because you changed the chip. think of it as putting a major league baseball player into a game using only little league equipment, he wont be able to perform without the right gear.
its a good looking car, but its not a good choice for 3,000. the price of parts and labor for bmw's is too high to justify attempting to salvage the car. the smarter thing to do with 3k is buying a generic american or Japanese car that you can get parts for very easily and inexpensively.
the m3 on the other hand will be fast, handle well, and possibly be willing to cooperate for a few years given the fact that you have to do your part and take good care of it. what worries me is that you said a 1995 m3 costs 6,000… maybe true if it had like a ludicrous number of miles on it, or a salvaged title; but for a m3 in decent shape you're looking at 12,000 and up.
E30 325i was 170bhp, not 190. I didn’t read anything you said after that as it’s bound to be just as inaccurate.
How long you been driving for? Have you driven an M3 and 325i?
