not worth the bother,as i remeber your wheel is a drum brake? buy a bigger hub, the torque will bend the spokes even if the wheel fits.
I think the bigger question is, why would you want to?
As in, what is the objective you are planning to achieve?
If it is greater top speed, It would be a heck of a lot easier to just get a new chain set with smaller front and larger rear sprockets.
NO. and the spokes have nothing to do with it.
The difference is the wheel size, a 19" is 3" larger in diameter than a 16".
Measure the distance from the rear tire to the swing arm cross bar, this MUST be more than 1/12" for the tire to fit PLUS an expansion area for the tire to flex.
You can use any 19" rear wheel/tire combo that fits, if it doesn't fit and you are determined to rebuild every part change to a swing arm for a 19" wheel.
A 19" rim would be extremely 'tight', so unless you wish to eliminate the rear fender and replace the shocks with solid struts (rather uncomfortable) I'd recommend you find a different alternative.
Maybe….
The RYCA, the Suzuki S40>Cafe Racer re-laces the 15" rear onto a 18" rim.
The RYCA requires the a part of the swingarm arm sliced and welded to clear the larger diameter of the 18" tire. You will have to modify your swingarm as well — no way you can get 1.5" more clearance for the small tire..
how many spokes each rim has is the deciding factor here????
BUT.. doesn't the CM 400 1981 have a comstar wheel????
but this will change the steering & handling of the bike because its 1.5 inches taller at the back..
Honda tend to use a lot of parts for similar bikes throughout the range of a run of models… so look at the wheels from CB 250/350/360/400/450
bike bandit gives a list often of parts that fit multiple models.. so you could try typing the part number in there site & see what it shows??

think if you look at bearing sizes… the late 70s wheels had the same size.. so may fit from CB400 1977??
