Hello, my '95 BMW 740iL with a V8 engine is being a little sluggish when it is accelerating from a stop. It's not making any weird noises as well as nothing to indicate a probably cause. Although once i believe the wheels we're just spinning because it wouldn't accelerate. However once I hit 20mph it accelerates smoothly. It's just getting it to go from a stop.
Any suggestions?

Check very carefully that your transmission is starting off in 1st gear and shifts through each gear at the same engine speed when the gas pedal position is not being changed from a stop to freeway speeds. How many gears does your automatic have? There are several transmission variations.
Did it used to excelerate fast from a stop? Do you have a turbo on it if so then it needs to spool up before you'll have much power? If you just want it to go fast from a stop try a bolt on super charger.. then it will haul azz but if it used to haul from a stop there's a number of things that would contribute to it being slow such as bad oil bad trans fluid it might be starting in second gear your engine might be in need of a tune up ect.. if you do a tune up put a good air filter and oil filter in and look up pulstar spark plugs they will increase you HP and torque thus increasing your off the line performance.. but I would look into if your starting off in second.. unless its a manual trans lol
Could be a combination of factors that are affecting it.
You might try changing spark plugs, cleaning the throttle and idle air valve (remove it from the car and keep it upside down when cleaning and keep the throttle body fluid away from the motor. Twist it slowly and gently and it will loosen up). Check the air filter and fuel filter as well.
Also, if you have changed brands of fuel since then?
